In this case study, we asked Sebastian from planstuuv about the improvements they’ve seen since introducing timeBuzzer, and what tips he has for you.
What do you do and why do you track your time?
I’m Sebastian, the founder of planstuuv. Together with my team, we’ve made it our mission to bring clarity to the often confusing world of building regulations. We show exactly when a building permit is required and what else needs to be considered, so no one is faced with unexpected costs or has to undo construction work afterward.
Our focus is on secondary structures around private homes: carports, garages, patio roofs, cold and warm conservatories, and garden sheds.
To make this process easier, we developed planstuuvCHECK. It’s a free tool that gives a quick overview of the most important building code regulations. And when things get specific, we prepare the complete permit application within just 5 working days at a transparent fixed price.
Accurate time tracking allows us to calculate reliable and fair fixed prices.
What has improved since you started using timeBuzzer?
With timeBuzzer, we’ve significantly reduced the effort needed for time tracking. In our daily work, many projects run in parallel, and we handle numerous short calls. It’s rare that we spend a full day on just one project. That’s why we now track time down to the minute and assign each task precisely: project work, organization, coordination—everything gets logged.
The result: fair pricing based on real data. Instead of billing strictly by the hour, like many architecture and engineering firms, which can be hard for homeowners to plan for, we’re able to offer fixed prices thanks to accurate time tracking. Our clients know from the beginning exactly what they’ll pay.
The system is easy to use. A physical buzzer on the desk starts and stops tracking with one click. The software is intuitive—and the buzzer even looks great. In short: less effort, more transparency, and a reliable fixed-price model.
What tips do you have for others getting started with timeBuzzer?
First of all, I can absolutely recommend timeBuzzer. I’ve already done so several times.
- Track every task consistently at the beginning. It takes a few days of discipline, but after that, time tracking becomes second nature. You won’t want to work without it. The data you get is incredibly valuable for any business.
- Be transparent with your team. From the beginning, we made it clear that time tracking is meant to improve internal processes, not to control work hours. The result: less pressure, more honesty, and great insights.
- The hardware is worth it. With the buzzer, you can switch between projects instantly, without having to open the software each time. This lowers the barrier to tracking every task and makes the process much more efficient.
